Today, Carbonfuture announced a large offtake collaboration with Exomad Green and Microsoft. Whatās unique about it? All 32,000 tons of biochar carbon removal (#BCR) will be delivered in the next 6 months.
š In a world of 10-year offtake agreements and sluggish growth of deliveries, this marks an ambitious and significant step in the right direction.
š¤ Beyond the carbon removal, this project - based in ConcepciĆ³n, Bolivia - is amazing for its huge #cobenefits for local, often indigenous, communities. The biomass used reduces the risks of forest fires and improves air quality. And the #biochar is redistributed directly to farmers who can improve soil fertility and yields.
š Because carbon removal is often bought locally, I am even more excited to see a leader in the space like Microsoft acknowledge the significant benefits of purchasing from projects in the Global South.
š Finally, worth noting that every single ton of CDR from this project will be tracked rigorously through Carbonfutureās monitoring, reporting, and verification (#MRV) solution, ensuring transparency and compliance with the Puro.earth standard.
š To many more deals like this, and congrats on everyone involved.
