Early this morning, the European Institutions held the final #Trilogue meeting on the CRCF, agreeing on the final text of what could become the world’s gold standard for carbon dioxide removal (#CDR) certification.
🎉 The CRCF is a huge success! While we are still short on details, we have all reasons to believe that a lot of progress has been made. Two things to highlight in particular:
🎖 The CRCF now distinguishes between carbon farming vs permanent removals vs carbon product units.
🎖 The CRCF now features tech-open definitions, aligning with the IPCC’s not picking any favourites.
Having been heavily involved in the CRCF from the start, I decided to write up a dedicated #blog post to make sense of it all: “The Carbon Removal Certification Framework: Europe's Blueprint for Net-Zero”.
In the post published on the Carbonfuture magazine I cover:
🔍 What is the Carbon Removal Certification Framework?
🥊 What is the impact of the CRCF?
💪 Can the CRCF live up to its potential?
📅 What Happened on February 20th?
🔜 What is Left to Do?
🚗 The Road Ahead
💬 Very keen to hear your take. Do you agree with our assessment? Are we missing something?
