"JPMorgan Chase announced today a series of deals aimed at removing and storing 800,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, valued at over $200 million, marking one of the largest carbon dioxide removal (CDR) purchases to date."
The details we know so far:
- 25,000 tons at $20,000,000 over 9 years with Climeworks
- 450,000 tons over 15 years with CO280
- 28,500 tons over 5 years with Charm Industrial
- $75,000,000 of commitments to Frontier
What a few weeks it has been for CDR and the voluntary carbon market (#VCM). This follows the 200,000 tons announcement by NextGen and the 2,760,000 tons announcement by Microsoft with Ărsted.
A step-change in the market.
