šŸŖØšŸ¤˜ Enhanced Weathering Alliance is ready to ROCK and SCALE up CDR šŸ¤˜šŸŖØ

šŸ“ˆ Enhanced Weathering (#EW) presents one of the most promising, scaleable carbon dioxide removal (#CDR) technologies. In an important milestone for climate innovation, 10 of the worldā€™s leading CDR companies are getting together in the pursuit of scaling this crucial industry globally.Ā

šŸ›ļø TheĀ Enhanced Weathering Alliance (EWA)Ā advocates for policy that helps intensify and accelerate carbon removal deployment to speed-up and step-up EW's contribution to global climate targets.Ā

šŸ¤ I am proud of the role I could play in the formation of EWA: as part of the Carbonfuture Catalyst programme, I started gathering 6 EW companies over a year ago, aligning them on a common policy message, doing advocacy together, and pushing them to create an association.

šŸ’šĀ  Today, EWA launched with the following founding members:Ā Carbonaught Pty Ltd,Ā Carbonfuture,Ā Carbony,Ā Eion,Ā Flux,Ā InPlanet,Ā Lithos Carbon,Ā Rock Flour Company, and Silica. EWA is launched with support fromĀ Carbon Drawdown InitiativeĀ andĀ Cascade Climate. TheĀ Carbon Business CouncilĀ is serving as theĀ  Secretariat.Ā

šŸšœ Enhanced weathering is a promising carbon removal approach that can leverage existing infrastructure and agronomic practices to rapidly scale.Ā  EW involves spreading rock powders on agricultural land to accelerate the natural carbonate-silicate cycle and permanently remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.Ā

šŸ“— Todayā€™s launch is accompanied by the release of an Enhanced Weathering Policy Primer published by theĀ Carbon Business CouncilĀ with input from EWA members, which highlights the state of the market and the significant deployment opportunities for enhanced weathering:Ā https://bit.ly/EWPrimerĀ
