šŸŒ Looking for a global overview of carbon dioxide removal (#CDR) companies?šŸŒ

Look no further than an exciting new interactive tool from CDR.fyi for visualising the global #carbonremoval ecosystem. The tool has logged 221 (of which 151 are suppliers) CDR companies - here a few fascinating stats:

ā˜ļøDirect air capture (#DAC) is leading the way with 46 (30%) companies, followed by biochar carbon removal (#BCR) at 27 (18%) and enhanced weathering at 12 (8%).

šŸ’¼ North America and Europe are tied with 101 companies in each, accounting together for over 91% of all CDR companies, with a mere 9% in the rest of the world.

šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø Looking at individual countries, the US is leading with 84 (38%) companies, followed by the UK at 29 (13%), and Germany at 20 (9%). Together, these three countries account for over half of global CDR companies.

šŸ¤ Almost 31% of all CDR companies are ecosystem services companies (n=70), testament to the significant amount of players like Carbonfuture emerging to facilitate the work of CDR suppliers.

šŸŒ† The Bay Area with 25 (11%) companies and London with 23 (10%) companies are emerging as the clear hubs for CDR, followed only by Amsterdam with 8 (4%) at a distant third. Fascinating data! I cannot wait to see this map becoming more and more comprehensive.

šŸ“£ Huge shout out in particular to Tank Chen, the creator of this tool. Do get him touch with him if you see gaps or would like to add onto this.
