💚 Last year, I married the love of my life. Like so many people, I wanted to have family and friends there to share this special moment. However, a side effect of working in the climate space is becoming super conscious about your environmental footprint. Sound familiar?
📋 The “solution”? Ruthlessly cutting down the guest list (18 people) + calculating and then offsetting all emissions related to my wedding with durable carbon dioxide removal (hashtag#CDR). In my case: 19 tonnes of biochar carbon removal (hashtag#BCR) purchased from Carbonfuture and provided by Carboneers.
🥳 Are you planning a wedding (congrats!) or any other bigger event/celebration?
✅ One of my favourite reporters in the climate space, Lara Williams, just published “An Opinionated Guide to Big, Fat, Green Weddings”, which provides you with a clear step-by-step playbook: from travel, to accommodation, food, flowers, food, and clothes.
⏩ When it comes to behavioural change, I don’t believe in absolutisms or radical change - it simply doesn’t work. I believe in the power of collective, consistent, incremental change.
🌍 Let’s face it, we will keep getting married and having parties. But let’s all take a step in the right direction and minimise our environmental footprint next time we do so.
