How should carbon removal (#CDR) be defined across policy frameworks? Carbon Business Council has published a new issue brief exploring this question. I was able to contribute to this brief, which calls for a clear and consistent definition of CDR for policy that is 1) method-neutral, 2) criteria-based, and 3) IPCC-aligned to support the portfolio of CDR approaches all over the world.
Carbon removal is an essential pillar of climate action alongside significant emissions reductions efforts. As a result, a consistent definition of what CDR entails is key to accelerating climate action by ensuring policies match a standardized definition.
